about
Bubble Gum is a song about a heart-wrenched but hopeful girl who sings of a relationship renewed in a home of “bubble gum colored walls”. She splashes the home’s walls with color and brings her hope for revived romance to life.
My soft vocals and acclaimed producer Glen Robinson’s arrangement (credits with: The Beach Boys, The Ramones, Celine Dion) create a dynamic guitar-driven track. It ended up sounding like Colbie Caillat’s voice meets Kelly Clarkson’s pop-rock era instrumentals.
lyrics
There’s just some portraits you left and
My sleeves are getting stained with the paint that we left in the cans on the floor last time you came over
It’s like we’d forget the mess is to clean
It‘s like our love needs a glove and we didn’t want to bother with the chore, no
The portraits are staring me down this house isn’t the same without you around
So come back around, come back around
We belong in a room of golly bubble gum colored walls with laughter ringing (running in and out of them in fits of laughter)
Way too long ago we misunderstood what we were about oh (drowning out but ah we bounce back oh)
So dust off the shelves
Cause everything we felt in
The darkest apartment where we stood on broken floor boards was worth it
But then our picket fence fell
And everytime you’d ring the bell
Of my heart beating loud, hear the sound, we would handle it like cheap landlords
We should restart it start it from scratch
Write a new chapter make a new batch
So we could finally sing at last
Etta James’ my girl, sing it, play it full blast
We belong in a room of golly bubble gum colored walls with laughter ringing (running in and out of them in fits of laughter)
Way too long ago we misunderstood what we were about oh (drowning out but ah we bounce back oh)
You threw the ball in my yard but i was hiding inside of the house behind walls that
Were covered in plaster
Just need to clean up the halls get the foundation right
Then i could out to find ya cause you
Made me believe in love
I’m so done throwing my fists in the dust
Separating my wrists from the cuffs
You made me believe in love
We belong in a room of golly bubble gum colored walls with laughter ringing (running out we’re in fits of laughter)
Way too long ago we misunderstood what we were about oh (drowning out but ah we come back oh)
Renovate, primer paint, it’s a clean slate
Portraits done staring me down with a straight face
Renovate, don’t fixate, you’re my teammate,
We gonna fix this house like a dream babe
No we're not gonna leave it like that
It's something we're gonna get past
You came back around
You came back around
